I love this memorial, but I cried so much when I visited! It was moving to see the reverence of the people who visited and paid their respects. I wish these memorials were not necessary . . .
Definitely a moving memorial to visit! About 5 years ago, I found the name of the brother of my college roommate while there and photographed it for her. It was such a brutal time to live through. I'm about to start reading "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien about the Viet Nam War, and will probably head back to your blog to look at this again while I read it.
I was born and raised in Colorado. I lived there until the summer of 2007 when we moved to West Virginia for my husband's job. I am now a SAHM who's interested in photography, scrapbooking and interior design. My camera of choice is a Canon Rebel XSI for most shots and an Olympus 770SW for underwater. I have a wonderful husband- Jeff, and an amazing son Keagan.

ReplyDeleteThat is something else I would love to visit. I think I'd be just like Maria and cry. What a moving monument.
