This is a crazy stump that is across the street from my house.  It almost looks like something out of a fairytale-- like a wild fairy house or evil tree stump or something.

    Stump with a bad hair day. Here in the NW there are what are called "nurse stumps", where new trees root and grow in old stumps left by loggers, so you can have something looking like this.

    or stump with bad hair day. Very interesting! When my children were young(er), there was a particular tree along our walk that stood out in its creepiness that they labeled the Halloween Tree. To this day, I look for that tree when I take my walk. (and I suspect they do too when they go by it)
